Normally, I would be frantically busy this time of year. Spring sports, prom photos, graduation portraits, and flowering family sessions would keep me going. I love all of it, and I desperately miss it right now! I had considered joining the 'Front Porch Project' when it was first introduced. It is such a lovely idea and I stopped by a few homes before quickly receiving word from the state that photography is a non-essential business and cannot legally operate right now. At first I was skeptical, but I have many friends in healthcare and I learned quickly how important it was to follow the order. I wanted to gift my clients something to make them smile during these uncertain times, but my labs shut down and it became apparent that all my plans would be on hold for a while. I definitely miss capturing everyone's special moments, but I would much rather know that everyone is home, healthy, and safe right now! On the bright side, I have found other ways to help people and am grateful to have found new businesses to collaborate with! These are fellow photographers from around North America and I am so grateful to have connected with them! Together we turned our cameras on ourselves to share a unified message for our clients. Wrapping up this session and I had to share this one because this picture gives me all the feels! 😍 Mom and dad are both there, supporting their son at his senior portraits. As they look at him, their faces are just beaming with pride. Dad's shirt even says "My kid is a keeper" (he's a goalkeeper! 🤣). All summer, I saw posts about how we only have 18 summers, etc. etc. This picture captures that for me. Every day I am eternally proud of the tiny humans my boys are growing up to be! I imagine that my face looks a lot like the parents here. On more than one occasion, I've asked for time to slow down, joked with my kids to stop growing, or wished there was a pause button for life, but I don't really want those things. I love watching my kids grow. Nothing - and I mean NOTHING! - makes me smile harder or feel more gratitude than witnessing them develop into their own little people. 💕 We know we can't slow it down, but each stage is precious, so capture the memories and relive them each step of the way.
